Hello, I'm Balqis. I'm a former architectural designer turned cyanotype artist, educator, forager, and admirer of all things blue. My work is shaped by a fascination with the quiet beauty of overlooked plants, meaningful places, and the people who inspire hope for a better world. I'm drawn to the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary—the invitation to slow down, pay attention, and celebrate life's small moments, one print at a time. Through my work, I hope to share that sense of wonder with you. Over the past 15 years, I've worked across the art and design industry, but nature and education have always remained at the heart of my practice. Through Sunprint Studio, I create cyanotype artworks, handmade crafts, and curated workshops that encourage people to reconnect with the natural world and experience the joy of making with their own hands. You can explore some of my collaborations, projects, and programmes here. I live and work between Langkawi and Shah Alam, Malaysia, where you'll often find me making art in a studio nestled beside my mother's garden, hosting slow picnic breakfasts with friends, or crafting with my wonderfully quirky, art-loving family.
